Marrakech in 3 Days: A Simple Itinerary

Three days are enough to explore the medina, palaces and gardens of Marrakech, then escape to the Agafay Desert or the Atlas Mountains.

Marrakech in 3 Days: A Simple Itinerary

Three days let you see the best of Marrakech without rushing. Here is a simple route you can adapt to your own pace. You will also find our picks in the Marrakech guide.

Day 1: the medina

Start at the Koutoubia, then wander through the souks towards the Ben Youssef Madrasa. Late in the day, head to Jemaa el-Fnaa square, which comes alive at sunset.

Day 2: palaces and gardens

Spend the morning in the south of the medina, with Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs. In the afternoon, head to Gueliz to visit Majorelle Garden, booking your ticket in advance.

Day 3: fresh air

You have two good options:

  • The Agafay Desert, less than an hour away, for its stony landscapes and sunsets.
  • The Atlas villages around Imlil, for a day of walking.

Our tips

Bring comfortable shoes for the medina and plan an afternoon break, especially in warmer months. For your stay, a riad in the medina puts you right in the heart of the city.

Frequently asked questions

Are three days enough for Marrakech?
Yes. Three days cover the medina, the palaces and a garden, and leave a day for a nearby trip.
